Bird’s Nest

Sarah Schettini

4x8x9”

Burlap, crocheted wool, egg shell, wood.

Burlap is a difficult material to work with. The incorporation of other materials facilitated the creation of the work. Each aspect of the piece is a bird’s nest. One nest is made of only burlap, while another is made of wool. The largest nest holds the other two - it is the final architecture of the work. The nests are created using crochet, my favorite type of fiber art. Using burlap pulled challenged me, but I used the tools I am knowledgeable with to find structure and drive.
